I liked that this was sci-fi as well but with modern day problems and that it felt believable and established. When he began to see the cracks in her facade and realized what truly was happening to her it was a relief and the reader gets to see more of his true character.Īll the characters kept your attention and they were well rounded and unique. Kia was a great H, although at first I thought he was going to be less, because he fought so hard against how he felt for the enemy's daughter. I did like that she was human and that her attraction to Kia was something she had no clue what to do with. The fact that she was able to survive him and make it so that he thought she was hurting others truly makes her intriguing. She was someone who from the outside seemed to be one person, but truly was trying to help as many people as she could while not inciting her father's wrath. I liked the fact that Liaena was such a diverse character. I jumped into this series at the end.I know, but I do it a lot! *I was offered a copy of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest and freely given review. Reading about the conclusion of Sinsudee’s and Del’s relationship made me go back and start reading Last Chance (The first book in the series) again. Reading this book made me realize how much I have missed the Shay twins and their world. I recommend reading the entire series, it is worth it. However, if you choose to start with this book you may feel a little lost with the setting and situations the characters are in.

This story can be read as a stand alone as the characters are introduced in a way that you know who is who. O’Leary’s writing is very good and there were no issues with the editing. Although, I do wish there had been a bit more action or that the action scenes had been drawn out a bit more. She has become possibly my most favorite character of the series.ĭawn of the Red Sun was a great mix of character development, relationship building, romance, and action. Throughout the story, you get to learn more about Liaena’s depth of feelings, her strength, and her vulnerability. And, Liaena’s hesitation to accept Kai’s affections as his true feelings was quite believable given the horrible abuse she had suffered throughout her life.

But, he just couldn’t help himself from revealing his true emotions. I loved how Kai was so open and forthcoming with his affections of Liaena even though he believed that he was possibly playing into her deception. I highly recommend the whole series.ĭawn of the Red Sun is Manakai’s and Liaena’s story. In this series, the author has created a complex future world filled with three dimensional characters. Wow, what a great ending to this trilogy! Dawn of the Red Sun is the last book in Ms.
